The Ocean Grove Fire Department, first established in 1886, is comprised of three volunteer fire companies: Washington, E.H. Stokes, and Eagle Hook & Ladder. Governed by a Board of Fire Commissioners, OGFD serves one of the most densely built areas in the state of New Jersey and routinely answers hundreds of calls per year.

The Ocean Grove Board of Fire Commissioners is charged by law to acquire and maintain firehouses, fire apparatus and other equipment necessary to prevent and fight fires in the district. The Board of Fire Commissioners is also responsible for the adoption and administration of the Fire District’s annual budget.

The Mission of the Ocean Grove Fire Department is to provide life safety and preservation for the citizens of Ocean Grove through safe and effective fire prevention, fire suppression and emergency assistance in times of fire, natural disaster and other peril. The Ocean Grove Fire Department shall fulfill this mission through careful selection of able candidates to become members of the Ocean Grove Fire Department to aide in our cause.
